A Proper Entry is in Order...

Because I know my post-before-last was crypic, I figured that I have some explaining to do.

At approximately 6:45pm last night, I logged into my email to find this splendid thing waiting for me:

    Dear Applicant,

Thank you for applying to [our] Physician Assistant Program.

You have been chosen for an interview. The dates/times we are scheduling are:

    Monday January 26, 2009

    Thursday January 29, 2009

    Interviews will begin at 1:00pm.

Please respond with your first and second preferred date/time via response email or phone xxx/xxx-xxxx as soon as possible.

After your interview is scheduled, you will be sent the secondary application which

should be brought to your interview.

    Thank you

Very very nice admissions person, ABT

I'm the kind of person who rarely shows big displays of emotion, but reading that email absolutely floored me, and I kinda jumped up and down and yelled a little bit. You see, I had already come to the conclusion that I wasn't offered an interview and started implementing plan B (which I had prepared last year) and figuring out plan C. I mean it really was (and still quite is) the oddest feeling to go from believing something was not going to happen to all of a sudden having it actually start to happen. I had my fall and spring courses figured out, was in the process of applying to some entry level health care jobs, made up my list of schools for next cycle, started studying for the GRE. Then BAM. That email was just completely unexpected.

It got interesting when it hit just when those dates were. I either had 3 days to prepare or a week. Most people get a month! I was so riled up and pumped and full of energy and running all my preparations through my head that that I laid in bed for a good three hours.

Anyways, today I got confirmation that I will be officially going next Thursday. I am extremely lucky in the fact that I managed to find cheap tickets despite the short notice ($299, when the average was around $500), and the fact that one of my friends from undergrad is already at the program so they are taking care of me while I am there. I also lucked out in the fact that I already have my suit, I got a hair cut on Tuesday, and that I have been preparing for an interview like this for months, so there's less for me to worry about before it happens. I still have a lot of stuff to brush up on, (and a lot of practicing to do), but I'm actually feeling very good about it. Obviously I'm not ditching plan B or C yet, because my chances of actually being accepted are still quite small. It's just great knowing that there is an end in sight for all this hard work. Or should I say, the beginning of a new path to take...:)
