So yesterday I got my official rejection letter from the other school that I applied to. They sent it at the same time as their acceptance letters for those they actually interviewed. They did word it quite nicely:
Dear [Beth],
Thank you for submitting your application to the [PA Program at our school]. Unfortunately, your overall score was not high enough to qualify for an interview for this program. Although you were not selected for an interview this year, I hope that you will consider applying again in the future.
If you intend to apply again, please remember that our program information is updated periodically so it would be advisable for you to check our web site from time to time for current forms and dates. In addition, a new application is required for each application cycle.
I sincerely thank you for your interest in [our PA program]. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
Sincerely,
-------
Program Director and Acting Department Chair
My question is, instead of making people play $50+ to apply to their program and then not grant them an interview because their score "wasn't high enough," why don't they just put the formula for however they are calculating their score on their website to save people the time, expense, and hope? No hard feelings at all, it's just that it makes it seem like the school is trying to profit off of applicants. I think my score was low because I still had courses in progress, but the website doesn't say that it will count against you. Hmm.

That annoys me too, Beth. They should either be more specific with their requirements or wave the fee if they don't accept you.
