I didn't write about what happened last week at the ER! But that's probably because almost nothing happened. From 1-3:45, there was almost no action. I got a few patients pillows and blankets...learned how to give someone a bedpan, and then change it...but everyone was pretty much standing around talking most of the time. But then at 3:45, fifteen minutes before I was supposed to leave, we got all this in a matter of ten minutes: Three ODs, one chest pain (from a prison, which I learned that complicates things a little paperwork wise), and a respiratory distress that required a CPAP (definitely had to go home and look that word up after hearing it so many times). I also got to see a little intra-hospital drama. We had one psych patient in a critical room that was waiting to be admitted upstairs, but for whatever reason, something administrative wasn't working out, and they wouldn't take him. I guess that forces you to be creative when you're the charge nurse with 6 ambulances coming in at one time with critical needs patients, and only so many rooms that can handle that level of care.
Who wants to speculate on the message that this cartoon is trying to get across?

So, would the title of the image "emergency room small" have anything to do with the meaning? Too many people with needs and not enough room and staff to meet their needs.
Also, I like the change in scenery on your blog.
