A la Flyleaf...
I'm so sick,
Infected with rhinovirus
Let me live without this
clogged up head,
bursting sinuses
I'm so sick
I'm so sick
Ick. There's a very strong inverse relationship between how much sleep I get and the chances of me getting sick. In other words, the only time I get sick is when I don't get enough sleep at night, which has been happening. As a result I have come down with the worst cold I have ever had (at the risk of sounding overdramatic). Seriously, Sudafed's not working (even taking two of a time with the original formula), and I took Tylenol cold and sinus almost an hour ago, and have yet to see any results. It's the first time I've taken cold medicine in at least six years, so I don't understand why they're not working! It's not like I've built up immunity to it. I've been up all night blowing my nose and I still feel like I have paper towels stuffed up there. Ugh. No ER today.
Since I have not much to do today, more lyrics:
2 AM and I'm groggy 'cause I'm still awake,
"Can you help me deal with my latest bad fate?,
I'm all stuffed up. I think it's the change of the seasons."
There's tissues on the floor, and pressure under my eyes
My nose feels like it's doubled in size,
One thing I'm thankful for, I really can't say that I'm wheezing
'Cause I've come down with a cold, I'm like the person on the label
of that medicine bottle sitting on the table
Feeling like one mucus filled, plugged up girl.
I cradle my head in my hands
Please breathe... just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe

I keep on updating this same post. My Mass mom suggested I drink tea to help with the congestion, and if I didn't like tea, hot water with lemon (or even bourbon ;)). I've never been a tea drinker, but hot water with lemon sounded kinda wimpy, so I went to the store and decided to try the tea route. Anytime I've had tea it was the stuff at Chinese restaurants, and I didn't like it. So when I was standing in front of the tea section at Crosbys, I was at a loss of what to get, until I remembered my friends like Sleepytime. I got some, had some, and it actually isn't that bad. Granted I can't taste much, and I think I put a lot of milk and sugar in, but it felt really good on my throat. It didn't do anything for my congestion, but it did help me relax a little.
Then I decided to take more Sudafed. I took two and half an hour later, I was congestion free =o. After debating how to take advantage of my temporary relief by either studying or sleeping, I opted for the latter. I slept a whole hour straight without waking up. When I finally did wake up, I went right back to sleep and slept another hour. The medicine only lasted two hours, but I'm waiting a full four before I take another two. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna OD on pseudoephedrine today.

I struck out with this afternoon's double dose of Sudafed, unfortunately. I'm not gonna take anymore because there's no sense taking it if it's not effective. Happily, I found a surefire way to deal with my congestion: exercise. Yes, exercise. Three laps walking around the inside of the house (or two jogging) buys me five minutes of decongested study time.
We lost power for a couple hours tonight, so I was studying for tomorrow's test on the urinary system by the fire as there was no light. I discovered that while stoking the fire, I can stick my face above it and that helps with the congestion too.

veref - the word "fever" scrambled up. I hope you don't have one of those.
