OH MY GOODNESS...I just saw this video, and it is fantastic! The Emory PA c/o 2010 made this video about being a PA student. Makes me want to apply to Emory!

So just a little heads up about what they are talking about, for my non-medical readers...

-"Mayfield is the queen": I'm assuming Mayfield is a professor in the program
-"Bates is the word": Bates is one of the authoritative texts on how to perform clinical exams, and since that is a big part of the PA job description, is one of the "Bibles" of the PA curriculum
-"The whole class is suffering from GERD": (GERD is heart burn)
-"So much to know know know know know know": The didactic (book learning) year of PA is tough because you have to know so much. Doctors get four years to learn the material, PAs get two. Later on in the song it talks about how it's common to have three exams a week. Most of the song is about how much you have to study! (even late into the night: "security up all night patrolling" They also mention later on in the song about the numerous amounts of powerpoints that you have to go through. I've heard some students talk about having to learn 200+ power point slides each week! "Pharm and Phys it just don't stop": I've also heard several students talk about how pharamcology and physiology are the hardest parts of the curriculum in terms of volume.

-I like the part when they talk about their prof with the hippie hair dragging it in the cadaver lab!

-Towards the end, when they are singing the chorus and get to the "We hit the flo'" part and the students collapse at the desk...there's a kid with a motorcycle helmet in the back! Ha!

-At the end when they're talking about grades, they note the fact that MD students can pass classes with a C, but PAs have to pass with Bs (but in the end, no one cares about your GPA, it's all about the "C" at the end of your name! John Doe, PA-C

-then when the girl is taking all of her pocket guides out of her lab coat...thankfully "there's an app for that" for most of them, so students don't have to carry around 20 lbs of books during their clinicals

Anyways, what a great song about PA school...props to them!
