Friday at work was a fun experience. I was working the night shift 3-11 in our overflow area and pediatric ER. The pediatrician working in the peds ER I had seen before, but most of the staff called him Dr. Grumpy so I tend to avoid him. However, the PA I was working with told me he is the director of the local children's hospital and was looking for people to work in the new pediatric ERs his hospital is opening up in other hospitals, and if I was planning on sticking around the area, they might be able to find a job for me. Anyways, I was seeing a peds patient and Dr. Grumpy came up and said "I want you to go into that room and tell me what's going on." I had never been introduced to him or talked with him before, so I was surprised. I went in and saw the patient, came back out, talked to him about it (and got the diagnosis completely wrong), and he started pimping me! I loved being pimped although I am usually wrong. He later told me that he was a graduate from my school, which explained why he took an interest in me.

Anyways, later on that night I went in and saw a peds patient with a weird rash on his hands. The PA I was with didn't know what it was, and we were about to go get Dr. Grumpy to take a look and then I got an idea of what it was....I asked the PA to Google it and she said "You might be onto something. Let's go get Dr. Grumpy and you can present to him." Sure enough, he came in to take a look, and I got the diagnosis right!  They sent me home early after that. :)
