Ha! So I was just in the process of writing a "what's the status of my application" email to the AdComm committee of the one school that I am still waiting to hear back about an interview from (the 5% chance that was left that I might get invited), and decided once again to check out their admissions timeline on their website. I found that they made an interesting change under their prereqs section. It used to say that it gives prefence to current residents, but now it says this: "Preference will be given to current [residents], non-traditional students and those with significant health care experience." DEFINITELY don't fit any of those categories. Needless to say, I ended up not sending that email. Later today I will probably be working on my 6 month plan for finding new schools to apply to and how I'm going to strengthen application (I.E, get certified as a CNA or EMT-B, continue the unnecessarily difficult process of finding different PAs to shadow), and how I'm going to make it work with my current living/job situation, since I REALLY don't want it to change. I'll also start having to come to terms with the fact that I won't be able to get into any place that is cheap, since those schools cater to in-state residents. (Probably my only complaint ever in my life about being from Maine is that it doesn't have any PA or even MD programs, if I wanted to go that route, so I wouldn't be able to benefit of instate tuition). I mean, if I'm going to end up being $150,000 in student loan debt when I graduate, why not go to medical school, since that is the average debt for a med student? At least that way I'd be able to pay it off faster. Decisions, decisions.
