I had a great day in the ED today. It was just one of those days where I was connecting so well with everybody, which quite surprised me considering how tired (and henceforth spacey) I have been this week. We had one patient in particular, who was quite grumpy for having to wait 3.5 hours for CT scan (and I don't blame him because that normally doesn't happen! We're actually pretty good about wait times in that department). I sat and talked with him for an hour and by the time he left was in such a great mood. He reminded me of the old man in the movie Up, and was even dressed like that (except for the bow tie). It was just one of those encounters where you know it's meaningful being there in the ED.
