Orientation was also well done yesterday. The first part of the morning was spent going over the rules and student handbook of the program, and then we heard a presentation by the Welch-Allyn salesman about the medical equipment we will need. We then went to the computer lab to make sure our computers were hooked up and compatible with the school's network. This was followed by meeting our anatomy professor and getting our schedule for the summer. We are primarily 9-2 MWF, and adding a 3-6 physiology class Tues and Thurs. I'm excited about our professor, he seems like a great guy. I've also heard from the medical students that they love him too. He laughed at us because we have half the amount of time to learn everything that they do. Just the second week of school alone, we have two exams, a quiz, and a case study presentation due. Crazy! He also had some great quotes:
"If I ask you a question and you don't know the answer, look it up. Isn't that why God gave us Google?"
"I don't care what edition of [Netter's Anatomy] you use. The pictures are the same, Frank's dead."
Later we went and got our anatomy lab coats, which were A) used, and B) most likely not washed from the previous user. Mine is now sitting at home in a plastic bag, and I made sure to grab a big thing of bleach on our way home.
Today is the white coat ceremony and my parents arrived yesterday. I gave them a tour of campus, and spent the night with them in the hotel. After the ceremony today we are going to go into Philly and do some touristy things. I hope the weather is good!
